Look at the cowbell event at measure 8 beat 2, this note event starts far too early. Delete the cowbell note event that currently sits at measure 8 beat 1. Change the velocity of the new Chinese cymbal note event to 120. Finally add another Chinese cymbal note event as measure 8 beat 1. Add another note vent on the crash cymbal one note lane, halfway between measures 7 beat 4, and measure 8 beat 1. Now listen to that section again, and you can hear the crash much better. Change the velocity to 100, and press the 'Enter' key. Double click the note event that you just drew, a text box appears and shows the current velocity value for the event of 64. To make this MIDI note generate louder audio, you'll adjust the Velocity: ACID uses the midpoint of the range, 64 for the default velocity of any note you draw onto the timeline. Velocity values like any other MIDI values range from 0 - 127. Since you drew this note event in the timeline instead of playing it with your controller ACID Pro has assigned a velocity to that note for you. You probably know that the harder you strike a piano key, the lower the note sounds.Ī MIDI notes velocity setting emulates that same scenario. The Velocity setting correlates to how quickly and how hard you struck the key on the MIDI controller. You notice that the new cymbal could use more volume? MIDI note events don't have a volume setting associated with them, instead they have a Velocity setting. Place the cursor somewhere before the new event and play the project. When you find the right time and right note lane draw a note event at that point.

When you zoom in far enough you can see a ruler mark for measure of 7 beat 4. Now zoom into the project so that you can see more detail.
